Snapshot: Last Day with the Mash
Snapshot: Last Day with the Mash

Today was a sad day, as my Cinelli Mash build came to an end. It was my first “real” track frame that I built up from scratch and it’s been around Oahu twice, served me well on century ride, and was always my go to frame to just mash out and not have to care […]

Blood in the Snow (17 images)

It was dumping snow in Kanagawa this morning, definitely a first for me since arriving here over a year ago. I decided to snap some shots of the Red Baron out in the fresh powder. Definitely loving this weather!

Stratos Pista (11 images)
Stratos Pista (11 images)

Snowed last night, enough to stick on the ground. We haven’t gotten much snow here this year so tonight was definitely a treat. Decided to take the pista out for a few shots in the heavy snow. White on white is just looks so clean.

Ralph’s NJS Samson (13 images)
Ralph's NJS Samson (13 images)

On New Years Eve, I was able to shoot Ralph’s newly finished NJS project. Definitely a different build from his previous NJS Bomber Pro; all freshly polished Suntour components really set the frame off. I’ve grown to love how well these hand-built frames ride and look. Each frame is handcrafted and tailored to fit each […]

For The City (16 images)

During my vacation in Hawaii, I was able to hang out with my good friend Casey. I’ve been dying to see his bike ever since he built it up. Being away for 10-months in Japan doesn’t give you very many opportunities like this to snap shots overlooking downtown Honolulu. Such an amazing view.

Snapshot: Hawaii

Back in Hawaii for a couple weeks. I must say that I miss this awesome weather compared to the freezing temperatures in Japan right now. More to come, for now I’m going to take it all in. Aloha.

Enoshima (16 images)
Enoshima (16 images)

Did a short ride around the coast of Kamakura and Enoshima this weekend to change things up from my usual routes. Enoshima Island is a popular attraction with many shrines and gorgeous views of the coast. On a clear day, the island has a great view of Mt. Fuji; however, it was too foggy on […]

Lookback: One Last TNR (90 images)

My last TNR (Tuesday Night Ride) in Hawaii on 2/1/11.  One day I’ll be able to ride with you all again…

Unseen Footage
Unseen Footage

My friend Mark surprised me with a video of long lost footage before I left Hawaii. Makes me miss riding there so much.. Being able to ride with my friends is something I’ll hopefully be able to do in the near future. But for now, all I can do in reminisce. Such good times.

Snapshot: All Downhill From Here
Snapshot: All Downhill From Here

By far my most favorite hill nearby my place.  Everything you could possibly ask for: smooth road, minimal traffic, S-turn chicane at the bottom, space to handle a 40+ mph sprint, and a perfect straightaway at the end with nominal grade to spin down.

Snapshot: Sakura
Snapshot: Sakura

It’s been about a week or two since all the sakura trees were in full bloom. It’s amazing how beautiful these trees are and how fast it transitions into just another ordinary-looking tree within a matter of days. It is definitely one of Japan’s gifts that hopefully everyone can witness at least once in their […]

Sekidobashi (36 images)

It’s been a while since I’ve last updated; over a month since the 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Tohoku region, which rocked most of Japan and created so many new uncertainties for the well-being of many people here. Whether it being the initial earthquake, the record 33-foot tsunami that wiped out many towns on the […]

Snapshot: Fully-Functional Business-Attire

Christian released this awesome shot on Facebook today of me doing sprints down Bishop Street on the Lo Pro from the day we were filming my segment for an incomplete project for our TNR group. I like how my old workplace is trailing in the background of this photo. This one definitely brings some good […]

Lookback: One Last Sunday Ride (94 images)

I’ve been pretty busy trying to settle in over here and never got around to editing all my photos from back in Hawaii. This album was from the last Sunday ride I shared with my cycling family. The weather didn’t cooperate much, but it could’ve been worst; it rained in the morning and stormed at […]

An Island Ride to Honor Zach (36 images)
An Island Ride to Honor Zach (36 images)

was completed yesterday with most of our fixed crew and a few guests including Mazie who is one of Zach’s good friends. I have to admit, everyone rode hard and made a helluva effort climbing up all the hills and getting through all 100+ miles around the island. I give a ton of respect to […]

Ride In Paradise Zach
Ride In Paradise Zach

Yesterday was Zach’s funeral, where over a thousand people gathered to celebrate and remember him. It really puts things into perspective for me of how many lives he’s touched in the short time he’s spent with us. I can’t stop thinking about how bright his future was and how much of a star he was […]

A Sunday Ride In Manoa (51 images)
A Sunday Ride In Manoa (51 images)

Finally another Sunday ride, the first of this new year. It’s been a stressful couple weeks with all that’s been happening and to stay together with the crew only makes things easier to get through everything. I’ve grown accustomed to my fixed family and the friends that I’ve met through riding this past year has […]

Our Friend Zach
Our Friend Zach

Today we held a ghost bike memorial for our friend Zach who was taken from us by a reckless driver while we were riding around the island. It saddens me to write this entry because there’s just no words that can express the emotions and feelings that all of our group and Zach’s other friends […]

Snapshot: Essentials
Snapshot: Essentials

Started putting together everything before this Friday since you can’t be too prepared before riding around the island. I’ve rode around the island once, and I remember vaguely saying that I’ll never do it again.. It’s similar to telling yourself you’ll never eat at a restaurant again because the food was so bad, and then […]

A Sunday Ride to Allen Davis Beach (83 Images)
A Sunday Ride to Allen Davis Beach (83 Images)

Another epic Sunday ride to a new location that I’ve never heard of before. For those of you who don’t know, Allen Davis Beach is a hidden beach that’s located on the other side of the Makapu’u Lighthouse hill. Since the highway goes through the other side of the mountain, Allen Davis is easily overlooked. […]

Snapshot: Rain Warriors
Snapshot: Rain Warriors

would be a good way to describe Sau and Zeek today. It’s been nothing but gloom today after a thunderstorm rolled in last night with some vog from the neighbor islands. The rain is expected to clear up by tomorrow, but it really put a drain on things today. I met up briefly with Sau […]

A Sunday Ride and BBQ on the Eastside (63 Images)
A Sunday Ride and BBQ on the Eastside (63 Images)

Riding from UH Manoa, down through Waikiki, around Diamond Head, through the back of Kahala to Kahala Beach Park for a nice BBQ. It was a pretty chill ride, I was a little disappointed we weren’t able to ride through the Waikiki strip since there was a Toys For Tots biker cruise and entire strip […]

A Sunday Ride to Ford Island (71 images)
A Sunday Ride to Ford Island (71 images)

was the next ride in the Sunday Cruise Rides series, and again it was pretty epic. Although we weren’t rolling as hard as we normally do, it was still an awesome ride with tons of excitement throughout the day. My cycling cap goes off to Christian though; somehow he manages to come up with all […]

A Sunday Ride in Kaneohe and Kailua (42 images)
A Sunday Ride in Kaneohe and Kailua (42 images)

To finish up the short weekend, the group ended up riding in Kailua. After some discussion, we all decided it wasn’t a great idea to ride 50+ miles from Manoa to Kailua and label it a “cruise” ride. So we convoyed out by cars instead, hitting up the Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden in Kaneohe on the […]
